Thanks to Gary Allen, we now know of this ski area that operated in Charlotte. It was a small, private area, located on the side of Mount Philo. Here are his details:
"Mr. Turner asked Murray Foote in Charlotte if he could put a rope tow on a piece of land across the street from his house for his son Glenn and daughter Laura to ski on. We were invited over to ski one day. It was quite a challenge to grab the rope with soggy mittens and be whisked up a 100' to the top of a small hill and be able to ski powder and moguls on a farm pasture."
Mr. Allen later wrote back with a few more details:
"The Turner's Rope Tow was in the late 70's. It was just prior to the wonderful James Sunday case. Mr. Turner ran it for a couple of seasons. It was a lot of work and there was no money in the operation. Just a family car and a lot of labor and love." It sure was fun to pound those bumps on a farm pasture
If you remember this ski area, just let us know.
