Thanks to Phil Cooke, we now know of this lost area in Meriden that was operated by the Kimball Union Academy. Here are his details:
| "Around 1949, another KUA ski tow was installed on Sunset Hill not far from the Potato Patch. I remember we students cleared the slope. On the right is a picture of me racing on Sunset Hill. It was either 1949 or 1950. You can see the return rope clearly in the background at the level of my open mouth. In the upper right of the picture you can make out one of the poles carrying the return tow rope. Also note in those pre-snowmaking days we had to race through all sorts of stuff sticking through the snow." |
