We first knew little about this area, but thanks to a NELSAP reader, we know much more:
John Lefebvre: I do know some about the Claremont NH Country Club Ski Slope and rope tow. In 1964 at age 5, I took my first ski lessons there. The Claremont Community Center used to sponsor the lessons. The rope tow was operated on and off by the Country Club members, mostly for family of the golf club members. The price was right, but only one trail and a short ride. It was a large wide open slope going down right in front of the country club house, a fairly good drop too. I don't remember it ever being open as a business. Perhaps it may have been operated for profit in the 50s, but I doubt it. My guess was the rope tow quit working around 1965-1966. Even today though, its still a favorite spot for sliding and toboggans.
