According to a 1969 Ski Promotion and First Tracks, in the 1960's a 1200 foot long rope tow operated at the Western View Golf Course in Augusta.
One NELSAP reader remembers this area:
C.E Brown : Skied at Western View from 1966 to 1969-70. The area was owned by Leo Bourque of Augusta. It had a single rope tow with night skiing. The basement of the club house for the golf club served as the changing area, according to my dad. The slope was in front of the club house, fair way # 5,he thinks. I recall that the ski slope was a wide open area," kinda like," Kangaroo Hill ", at Sugarloaf only a little shorter. My father and I skied there and also at Colby College's area because of the night skiing. I hope this contributes and is of some help.
That's all I have on this one, anybody have anything else to add?
