This ski area was operated by the Williams College and operated until the late 1950's. The tow was fairly long at 1200 feet.

One of the best slopes
in the Berkshires, Sheep Hill has a length of 1200 feet and grades up to
30 degrees. A leap of 100 feet or more will be possible on the improved
Williams Outing Club Jump. Also a practice jump and a short but steep
trail. Needs 5 inches of snow to ski. Ski tow has been installed
by Williams College.
Here's a picture of the rope tow at Sheep Hill (photo provided by the New England Ski Museum). The date is probably sometime in the late 1930's. Vertical drop was likely close to a couple hundred feet at most. |
