Many
thanks to
Jon Regan, who
discovered a postcard of this ski area. NELSAP had no prior record of
this lost area. Jon posted the card on Snowjournal.com, where other
readers had not heard of it. Betsy McDonough then contacted the
Sharon, CT Historical Society,
asking them if they knew of the area. Liz Shapiro, the director,
responded by saying that the area operated in the early 1960's, and was
located on Rte 4 across from West Woods Road.

(Left-the back of the card, stating that there were 4 tows, and wide array of services) |
Liz was able to scan an
image they had at the Historical Society, which is viewable on the left.
It was taken by Hal MacIntosh, and is Courtesy of the Sharon Historical
Society Archives.
To the right shows the ski area after a snowstorm. The lodge is clearly visible, as is a rope tow. Please click on the image for a larger version. Jon visited the area on December 22, 2006, and found the area to be very overgrown. |
Does anybody else remember this ski area?
